Most of that was soda cans. There were a few alcohol containers, but not much. I'd say probably $35 worth was Coke cans.

No container deposits in my state, and no refunds.
You can cash in aluminium at a scrap metal merchant and get paid per kilo.
There are other metals you can get cash for...and I'm pretty sure they pay a set price per dead car/truck battery.
But many people don't bother, and just use the recycling service (glass, steel, aluminium containers and some plastics) that the local council provides along with garbage collection (1 bin for each).

So I just got a text from my ex. Apparently she has to cancel my son's appointment this week 'cause he's got a cold. On one part, that makes me sad 'cause he desperately needs to get into have his teeth fixed. On the other hand, I don't have to spend two hours in a car with my ex.
