I hate starting a new game this late in the evening, but I'm bored out of my mind and really want to do something right now.

Perhaps I'll just find something on Netflix and zone out in front of my laptop until I inevitably pass out on the couch.

I am thinking K-mart, Wal-mart, etc got screwed over by Sony. Sony probably told them the Go was the next-gen handheld, not a smaller last-gen.

For a while Gamestop listed used ones for $79, but they seem to be gone now

If I am correct, you can use the custom firmware on them, you just have to run the loader each time after you turn it off. (sort of like a tethered iOS jailbreak)

The only game I can recall starting late at night was ME3, because I got it at midnight

    Still not cheap enough.
    Should be more like $150-160.

I've started games late before, but I don't like doing it... I like to have a lot of time to figure out the mechanics of the game before I stop playing, otherwise when I come back I'll usually end up forgetting key things that I should be doing, then start to get frustrated.

    That's being generous.

I wouldn't pay more than $60 for a brand new one at this point.
