You've all heard of Altec Lansing right? Of course, they are the current competition to Beats Audio...sadly I have a pair of vintage Altec Lansing computer speakers and they are crackly. Even at lower volumes. They could just be old.

Not worth reconing, imo (audiophile stuff is, and quality large drivers for PA equipment).
Might've been moisture/heat that has led to the problem as some older speakers can be fine for years without crackling.

I got them for free and have others to replace them. I just like their size because I could use them as shelves unlike my Logitech and dell guys which take up room and cannot be stacked.

    No.
Used, working but in physically great condition. I should have brought my other set down to school, the ACS 33 which has a big subwoofer connection that ROARS!

    I have 2 Yamaha subs.
One for my home theatre and another on an older Pro Logic system in the games room.
