My laptop's overheating constantly now, fan spins up really really loud when I watch any kind of video online.
Not sure what I could do to try and fix it. It's one of those giant fan cooling pad things. I'm too lazy to take it apart and reseat the heatsinks and apply new paste.![]()
My laptop's fan has dried up. Every time it spins at any speed, it grinds and squeals. A lapdesk never cooled it enough for the cpu fan to slow either. I have repasted a couple of times and my last option is to buy some sewing oil to drop in the fan. Apparently it is a much thinner oil than any other available so it should help. I just have to be careful not to make a mess.
I just use whatever, but I seriously need to throw some crap out.
This pos celeron I'm on atm is enough to browse and download shit.
And if need to burn discs/recode stuff or whatever I use an old athlon rig I've got here.
The HP dm-1 I've got now is fine for office stuff and watching some vids when I'm not at home.

Yeah this piece of crap is about 4 years old now. Nice specs and stuff, just poorly put together by Acer.
I was looking at getting a netbook, I just want something that doesn't get hot, but don't want to spend a lot either. Definitely don't want to spend the £300 on a new, decent spec laptop. I thought if I upgraded the desktop, used that for all the time I'm at my desk, and just use the laptop ONLY when I'm in bed. It should last a few hours at night/morning.![]()
