Don't sweat the little things like this man. Just brush it off accept the fact that he's gonna do what he wants, it's a lot less stressful than. And when the shit hits the fan later on down the road and he ends up having to take it in (and spend $ ) you can sneak in a little "I told ya so..." But don't be a dick when you say it (That will probably make him less receptive to your advice), just be calm and state it as if you where stating a fact. Like 1+1=2.
I've tried that, it doesn't seem to help so the last time he had some malware on his PC i fixed it when he was asleep

Some people are like that...with computers, cars and lots of things.
They only do something about it if it stops working completely.
Funny thing is, I had similar stuff on my PC (benign, not a virus, just annoying) and I removed it. It was like a week later, but I'd only restarted my PC twice in that period of time, I download a lot of stuff and like to stay up late as you know.

Funny thing, that's how our last two that bit it died, and that was back when they were hyper-paranoid about everything.My father doesn't believe in taking things to professionals. He'd rather fix it himself - which usually ends up breaking it beyond repair.
