Funny because I disliked the minigames of the Saucer, both card games and absolutely hated Blitzball. I don't really like this mentality of "well it's subpar but we put it in the game anyway so we can say that it's in there lulz".
Then again, I know people who really enjoyed the card games and spent hours on Blitzball, so it's a matter of tastes.

Spent some time on Blitzball, but lost the ability to care quite fast. I also thought it's music was shit, which sucked if you wanted to play it actively.
But yeah, I like the side-show stuff. If nothing else, it gave a bit of extra life to a world. Is it utterly necessary? No. But I do feel it strongly enriches the game.
