(1) I always got a 1 in Geography and History (in South Africa, it's combined as "Social Sciences"), and a 1 is a failure, and
(2) For some reason I remember random dates like 23 January 2003 (the start of my torture) and 13 February 2009 (my first and only detention).

Oddly enough, I remember all nine subjects I had at school.
Grades 4 to 9 all had them, and from Grade 10, students could choose which subjects they wanted to study, I think. I don't know, since I dropped out of school when I was in ninth grade.
Placed in a spoiler since nobody really cares.

Spoiler warning:

Afrikaans, English, Maths and Life Orientation (probably Physical Education overseas) were mandatory subjects, however.
The five subjects (in my opinion) were Arts & Culture (Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Arts), Social Sciences (Geography + History), Economic Management Sciences (no idea what it's called overseas, it involves things like business plans and stuff like that), Technology (things like 3D and making stuff like chairs) and Natural Sciences (think that's Biology overseas).
