So many mechanic/vehicle technician jobs going. Fucking good money as well.![]()
I wish I came from a family of people prepared to work on cars all day every day. There's a house across the street from where I live, they've got about 6 cars in their garden/street/neighbours garden, you can see they're always working on cars. I wish I had family with the same interests. We're all so different. It's not fair.
There was only my Grandad constantly fixing cars, because he would only ever buy cheap rust buckets, fix them up for an MOT and drive them until he couldn't afford to fix it up for its next MOT. Mainly Renault 9s 11s, in the early 90s. The last straw was a 3 year old Clio that gave up the ghost within a few months of him owning it.![]()
My Dad is the most boring person I've ever met. I don't even think he has an interest in anything. He's good at taking things apart, fixing them and putting them back together. But that's only when he can be bothered to do something. He's never done anything with his life.
And there's my Mam who's into music (no interest - I only like listening to it), crocheting/knitting and all kinds of other crafts (Again, fuck all interest in that here.) and she's into gaming as well. Love her to bits but you can tell she isn't interested when I'm banging on about cars.I really need someone I can talk to about cars.

My uncle has two Ford Probes, a 16v 2 litre daily driver and a 24v 2.5 litre V6 that's garaged up because it's fucked.
Again, don't think he's particularly interested in cars either.
My cousin's husband, from what I can tell likes fast cars. Shame he drives a 1.2 Fiesta like an absolute twat. No one's impressed by his constant wheel spinning.![]()
Life would be a lot easier if I wasn't obsessed with cars, it's depressing seeing cars you want to own at affordable prices. Then seeing what the insurance is like.![]()
I don't talk to my Grandad about cars because:
The pieces of shit he had in the 70s - 90s = his opinion of every one of their cars.
He had a handful of Renaults that were all pieces of shit, therefore all Renaults are shit.
He had a Citroen of some type, therefore Citroens are all shit.
He's never had a Skoda, but they're all shit as well.
He's never had a Peugeot, and that's a good thing. Because, you guessed it! They're all shit.
Anything French is shit.
German cars aren't good either, because they're expensive to replace parts on.
Anything faster than his 1.3 Suzuki Wagon R that isn't a Suzuki is also shit.
So basically, unless it's a Suzuki, he isn't interested and it's a piece of shit.![]()
I thought the same way when I was a teenager. Luckily Dad had a close friend (who lived just down the road) that worked on cars and motorbikes everyday after finishing work at his day job.
I picked up a fair bit of stuff hanging around there.
And when I got my licence I was hanging around with quite a few like minded guys.
That was back in the days when modded cars were everywhere, the cops were a bit more lenient and we'd all hang out at certain locations in town.
Also, my sister's ex-husband is a qualified mechanic...I'm still good mates with him.
What about your uncle?
