yup, pretty sure that Animorphs and Buffy pioneered this and everything else just copied it. even ANIMORPHS was an affectionate parody (but at least they constantly referenced how similar it was to everything else at the time) most everything copied it and it's nice to see that kind of stuff used in a way that's not totally ridiculous

Anyway, Buffy like Casablanca seems to have tons of references to it over the years which is a testament to it's popularity but did tropes originally appear in Buffy or are they just a combination of much older troper?
