Probably. Visual novels tend to trounce RPGs for language difficulty, even extremely tough RPGs like Kiseki. Actually, I think the language in tougher visual novels is basically the same as the language in actual Japanese novels. :'D About the only difference is that you don't generally need to get used to how omnipotent narrators talk, as if visual novels are narrated, it's usually in first person.

The good thing about Muramasa is that it has full voice acting for every character, even the minor ones. The real problem is the narration, the descriptive parts. It's pretty much borderline literary at times, when it just has to write "the samurai dude left" as 武者は闇に溶けた。Just to sound all fancy.

Also, because the game takes place in the 40s, it goes out of its way to be all traditional and stuff. MUST WRITE KANJI FOR EVERYTHING. Like, 否 instead of something as simple as いえ. I mean, Jesus Christ.

I forgot not only to ask my father how the scanner works, but also forgot to re-install Grandia 2.
I keep forgetting about Grandia 2 because my father deleted it using System Restore last year, just to remove a virus that attacked the computer.
And then I forgot about reinstalling the Chzo Mythos games (5 Days a Stranger, 6 Days a Sacrifice, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes) that was removed the same way.
And I dunno where the DVDs/CDs are that had those games because my father's the only one who knows where it is!

And he's away at work for one or two weeks so now I'll have to wait 14 days. By that time it'll be September, and I want to scan things I drew on paper during my four-week-absence so that others (who want to know) can see how terrible I draw Pikachu. It looks more like a snake than a Pikachu.
But it may make some people laugh. Anything's possible.

Aww. Could always start on the PC versions with Rikai, and by the time you reach Zero, you might be ready. I think it's the last couple of chapters of SC that are the toughest, as the already challenging novel-esque style and huge amounts of text are combined with lots of delicious technobabble. So if you can get through that, you can probably handle Zero. Of course Zero will probably ramp up the technobabble as it goes on as well. :'D

I was planning to do that, unless XSEED hurries up and releases SC this year, or maybe at the beginning of 2013. The difficult part is finding the PC versions, because pretty much every site has the PSP ports.

Actually, I'm just all talk. I have too much of a backlog and other things to study to have time for FC and SC. Haha.

Yeaaaah, that sounds like the sort of thing you'd find in Japanese novels. Japanese writers are very, very fond of their flowery language. :'D One of my Japanese friends who studies creative writing said she has to consciously scale that back in her writing when she writes something in English. It's definitely something you have to get used to. I think adjusting to narration in Japanese novels was the most difficult thing for me coming to them from other forms of media. The dialogue was fairly okay after watching movies / anime and playing games, but none of that really prepares you for flowery Japanese narration. From that point of view, playing visual novels probably isn't a bad idea at all. Bridging the gap, and so on~

Bahaha, Kiseki shares that fondness for totally unnecessary kanji. 此れ, 其れ, 否, etc... :'D Of course Kiseki doesn't have the excuse of trying to give a particular era's flavour. It's just obnoxious for the sake of being obnoxious. :'D
