It's not really any more dangerous than physical copies. If you can't connect to the publisher's website to verify your game, you can't play the physical copy. If you want reliable access, pirate everything.

Only in certain games however is that the case.

Indeed. And half of them just require Steam now anyway.

I would presume that it's not easy to lose all your games if you're steam account is banned, it seems very unfair to lose tons of games for minor offences.

Yet I've never heard of anyone that's had issues with the service. You can still make physical backups of the games anyhow, and most of my Steam games I have physical copies. And as for the games that you can't buy a physical copy of, I'd say it's much safer to buy through a big service like steam, rather than through some sketchy dev site that might not be around if the dev goes belly up.

This. Every since Steam became so popular, a lot of other companies have put in place DRM policies that are pretty sketchy...

Last time I was on here, none of the Retro's were on, and I barely recognized anyone. It would seem a lot of people changed their names as well

I know you can back up the steam games by copying the steamapps folder but some of them will not launch without steam, so if you lose your account you might be screwed. Then again, I've yet to hear of anyone losing their steam accounts.

Also it's funny because I haven't bought a physical disc for a game in a while.
