At the time all felines in the house were named after Pokémon, except for one, who was named after a Digimon.
Pikachu and Chikorita = first two cats
Raichu, Pichu, Pixie = the two cats' children, Pixie being named after Piximon

They had to be given away near October 2003

Digimon was aired on a channel that we couldn't watch, and in the packets of crisps there were round circle-things made of plastic that had Digimon on them. One of them had Digimon.
Pokémon, well, it's not aired anymore in South Africa (the channel decided to first turn all Gen IV episodes into Gen I episodes, then to cancel it entirely) but the movies still are. Next week Friday, Giratina and the Sky Warrior may be aired.
