I was wondering if any of you remember being trolled when you were new to the internet. See, I know some people may have been forewarned as to the ways of cyberspace; while others wandered in blindly.

I remember years ago, I got into an argument with a staff member at another forum when I had just begun to communicate with people online, and I didn't realize that I was being trolled. I kept trying to reason with the guy and plead my case as eloquently and succinctly as possible, but his replies were the typical internet vernacular (of which I had no prior knowledge). Although I kept my cool, I was furious about the encounter for three days before I calmed down.

Anyways, I arrived on ScrewAttack at a rather bad time and ended up in a war between a bunch of Chaotic Neutral Deadpan Snarkers and a Stupid Neutral Goldfish Poop Gang and ended up being the Only Sane Man when the mods had to get involved and take two members and have them Killed Off For Real. Basically, one side were angry at the other for creating a huge circlejerk of the local community and generally hitting their Berserk Button, so they fought back with Insane Troll Logic, myself caught in the middle. Eventually, everyone got over it and we all realized that we're Not So Different.

Oh, and it eventually got so bad in the ban madness with five members banned (three Never Found The Body) that my Unknown Rival called out the mod staff as Dirty Cops and the admin staff as Evil Chancellors.

'Trolling'....hmmmm....havent had any trouble with such things, personally, though several buddies have. Its all foolish, really; if you dont 'feed' the troll(s), they will eventually starve and die away...
(Though I HAVE heard tales where 'stalking' becomes VERY out of hand....but thats when the Feds/INTERPOL become involved, so....)

I have a story that I know I couldn't tell in one post because of the character limit. That being said it's something that was probably way more entertaining if you were there. It happened on some unimportant website that doesn't exist anymore. I very much doubt I'll post about it but who knows one day I might get really bored and this thread is still open... Shard may or may not be able to convince me to post it. Fortunately I'm still in contact with a few people that were very much involved with it so if I did I should be able to get most of the details despite it happening 6 years ago. I was a neutral observer fwiw. It's still to this day one of the top things I've seen online. RL became involved more than once, which is always awesome.

Anyway, my troll days are over. I used to be a silly little shock troll back in my youth. Post like 25 pain series threads in a row before getting banned and shit like that...pretty stupid. Ah the folly of youth.

Anyway...I've been trolled quite a bit, and it still happens.
I don't really troll though.

Although I have been banned on a few sites for being a general dick.
I remember one time in particular there was a brief inter-site conflict of sorts.
And I can't use youth as an excuse for that
