FF VIII rom problem

Hi everyone im having trouble playing Final fantasy VIII on Psxfin. Iv tried all the others too but for some reason all the other games work but no matter how many different downloads iv tried, everyone loads up and just turns into a black screen and doesn't load any more. So does anyone know what I should do? thanks

Should work fine assuming you extracted the "ROM" (.zip, .7z, .rar etc cant be loaded before decompressing) properly.

I can think of two reasons why FFVIII wouldn't run on pSXfin.

1. The files are compressed in ecm-format, so you need a UnpackISO or ECM tools to convert them to regular .bin files since neither pSXfin nor ePSXe are able to read .ecm files.
2. You downloaded a PAL-Version of the game which ist copy-protected so you would need to patch the image to get it to run on that emulator.

The black screen is often caused by above reasons, because the emu isn't even able to read the disk image.
I can run FFVIII(NTSC-U) from the main site just fine on both psx 1.13 and epsxe 1.70.

I think ive gotten into some similar issues with ps2 iso files.I have gotten like 4 games now that say they are playable but they wont load. I think they have been patched with something that is causing them not to work.

Are you using .iso files? If this problem persists, did you try mounting the images with daemon tools using the CDVD-Plugin?
BTW what games are you talking about, precisely?

Valkyrie Profile 2,Silent Hill Origins runs but I cant equip weapons in my inventory,Tenchu Fatal Shadows has a lighting issue I cant seem to work around and it spams a uvmicro(something like that error). I havent tried mounting them yet but I thank you for that suggestion cause thats about the only thing I havent tried.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you have sorted this, by downloading the NTSC version of the game, if you do still have problems though please do post back

As for Balamatrix, please in the future create your own thread instead of using an unrealted one, this way you are more garanteed to get the help you are after (PSX and PS2 emulation is completly different)
