Question Lunar 2 Eternal Blue sound problems on PCSX-Reloaded

Whenever I try running Lunar 2 using PCSX-Reloaded everything seems to work fine. But whenever a bit of vocal audio (A voice rather then music or a sound effect) is played, the whole emulation lags and stutters.

Graphics appear to be okay though and I haven't gone far enough to notice any other problems just yet. I've tried fiddling with various audio settings for the plugin but to no avail. I really have no experience with emulators so please use layman's terms.

    Systems Stats:
    CPU: Celeron(R) Dual-Core CPU T3100 @ 1.90GHz(2CPUs)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
    RAM: 3328MB RAM
OS: Micosoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) (x86/32bit OS)

    Emulator:
    PCSX-Reloaded 1.9.92-win32

    Plugins:
    Graphics: P.E.Op.S. OpenGL Driver 1.78
Sound: P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9
Controller: SSSPSX PAD Plugin Pressure Mod 1.6
    Cdrom: SaPu's CD-ROM Plugin 1.3

I've tried running it with both my disc and a .bin/.cue version.

As yet I haven't tried any other emulators as I'd rather stick to this one if possible. If I can't get it to work then I'll see about trying another emulator.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I wasn't sure based on the board descriptions. (Sorry if I missed a clearly labeled help section.)

PCSX is a very very very old emulator, made mostly for MAC machines users with a few old windows ports, it never was developed much further

ePSXe is the plugin emulator of choice nowerdays

recomend you frist try using the exact same plugins (just stick to the default ePSXe CD&Pad plugin though)

if issues are still present try looking in the special fixes for both video and sound

P.S. posting in the correct section helps, but I moved this for you

P.P.S. you are welcome to try and stick with the outdated emulator and try playing with the video and sound plugin settings firstly looking at the special fixes

    Thanks for moving it. ^^

I was trying with PCSX-Reloaded, which was last updated as of two years ago. Not the original PCSX.
I downloaded ePSCX last night, but I don't know which Bios to use, it suggests scph1001.bin or scph7502. I can't seem to find anything that tells me how they're different. :/

Different regions. scph1001 is the original NTSC-U (America and the like) PSx BIOS, and scph7502 is the BIOS for the PAL-E (Europe) PS1.

IIRC, you need a NTSC-U BIOS for NTSC-U games, and a PAL BIOS for PAL games.

    Hope that helps.

You only need one bios to play ntsc or pal games and the game works better with opengl2 or software you can check the game entry with the epsxe 1.70 in my page http://psxdatacenter.com/

Many thanks Alakazander, your site proved to be quite helpful as well Gladiator.

I've now moved to ePSXe and it appears to be working correctly. There are still a few small audio glitches but I should probably be able to work those out through fiddling with the configuration, or I could just ignore them.

    Thanks a lot guys. ^^
