Not a final authority but if it's not on there odds are it's not metal.
Disturbed is definitely hard rock.

Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.?
Listening to Tattered and Torn right now, I'm sure instant regret will be had.
Edit: I'll give you that it's different. Don't think I could go through the whole thing because it still sounds obnoxious.
Edit 2: And back to Unholy Matrimony I go.

I personally don't mind Slipknot, but there are far better bands, and they are one of the few nu-metal bands I will listen to.
So lately I been listening to a band called Oral Fistfuck, they have a great 3 song EP. Can't wait for a full album from them. Brutal Death Metal at it's finest!
Nueva Saratoga album, sí, sí, sí!
I'm disappointed in myself for not knowing about this sooner.
New Pathfinder and Luca Turilli, looks like I've got good listening ahead of me.

Listen to Iron Maiden.
They're an english band from the early 80s and sing about supernatural stuff like ESP, reincarnation, etc. and sometimes they sing about famous historical events like the Russian Revolution.
Really? I'll check them out.
Pretty sure that's a bot.
This^, if not for sarcasm... then... What.

Also, it doesn't get much better than these guys.

Although I argue they aren't solely metal, considering what progressive means in music theory, these are some of the music musical, technical guys you'll see on a stage, bar none, including bands like Rush, given their lack of range in comparison.

Also, I would recommend Black Sabbath. They're also English
