Get a psx and a ps2.
Both can be had for next to nothing (or free).

I don't emulate anything on PC, just emulate some mame and really old stuff on Xbox (original).

If I lived near her I'd consider letting her have one of my chipped PS1's for next to nothing.

A while ago (a year, maybe more) I acquired and moved a heap of PSX and PS1 consoles........they were all unmodded though.

Download the zlib1.dll file here
But I'm assuming you did that already, just click download zip file.
*put this in the emulator folder, it doesn't, and shouldn't be away from the actual program otherwise it won't launch properly
You can find the bios here
*Download PSX_Bios_SCPH1001.zip , Scph1000_Bios.zip & Scph7502_BIOS.zip*
Put these files in the BIOS folder of your emulator. *extract these files to guarantee they are read*
Then open emulator, click config, then wizard guide.
If all went well, Voila, your own PSX emulator up and running.

Check out some pawn shops iamerror.
It's usually like $15AU for a PSX with 2 controllers, 1 memory card and a game.
Possibly even a modded console, pawn shops usually don't take any notice of stuff like that
