Torres has been poor for awhile now. Should have slotted a couple by now really.

Anyone but that bumbling oaf Torres up there and it's a Spanish win.

The commentators here were going on about how Spain would have no cutting edge without a striker on the field. Frankly they looked a lot better without Torres than with him. Such a shame for the guy, though. His link up play is still good and he still has all the ability he used to have. It's just a lack of confidence, and it only gets worse the longer it goes on. :/

    Entertaining game, though.

So I spent £2.90 in the Co-op earlier.

2 Twix Xtras, 2 litres of Pepsi Max and a packet of Prawn Cocktail/Salt and vinegar Walkers crisps.

I don't follow football but since the cars here are plastered with the tricolour and it might be nice for us to win at something, what are the chances of Ireland actually getting past the group stages in Euro 2012, I heard Trappatoni is a fantastic manager.

Also it's funny since it looks like our Rugby team is miles better than our football team.

Not very high. He's done great things with them and they have a couple of good players, but they were tied in a brutal group. Even Croatia, the team they're supposed to beat tonight if they want to stand a realistic chance of progressing, are probably a better side than them, which is saying nothing of Spain and Italy. If they get a win tonight you never know, but if they lose tonight it's probably game over.

Hoping they'll progress, though. Closest competing neighbour that isn't England and all~

Yeah they looked better without Torres but I think they would have looked better with a true striker that could play. Shame David Villa is out.

Yeah I mean, I'd likely have Ireland as the weakest side in the group (obviously not on the level of a Spain or even a struggling lately Italy). I'll be pulling for them but I think it would take something herculean to advance.

Edit: I reckon Shay Given could do something herculean in any given game even at his current age.

I forgot Italy and Spain are in our group who from my limited knowledge are very good teams, yep, we're screwed then.

So it's literally all dependant on how they do tonight then, ok, I won't be expecting a win now that I know this. Thanks people.

Also it's nice to know we have the Scots backing us up.

Yeah, Villa's a huge loss for sure. Such a big player for them at the World Cup. Was kind of surprised Torres was given the nod ahead of Llorente or Negredo, to be honest. Neither are anywhere near as good as him technically, but they're both flying after great seasons, and probably would have tucked away one of the chances he scuppered.

Haha, we share the same Celtic heritage~ Lots of people here feel closer to the Irish than they do to the rest of the UK.

Yeah this Spain team (not in their current roster with Villa and Puyol being out but even so there is still great depth) is probably one of the 5 best national squads of all time.

You've got a Polish German backing you as well, though I may be alone in this.

I did not know that, but I know there is a long history between both England and Scotland.

Would you in be favour actually of Scottish independence btw? I heard a few arguments for and against, a lot of people are saying right now it's not economically possible for Scotland to do it.
