That's why it's a driving lesson, and not your actual test. They don't expect you to be an amazing driver, even if you think you should be doing better.
They have probably seen much, much, much worse.

I'm a bit new but atleast i know europe driving is way harder because most of the roads are from horse days and shit similar. You don't have as many straight aways.

The majority of cars in Europe are standards, where as in America they're mostly automatics. Standards are harder to learn on.

Also, I don't think they're as backwaters as you seem to have pictured in your head.
