I love that d-pad, never misses a beat.

    So true.
Dc has one of the better dpads imo. It's raised unlike a dualshock, so you don't get cuts from the controller because of the space when you push a direction down.

Really? I hated it with a passion. Maybe it's the way I hold the controller or something.

Yes. The PS D-Pad never misses a beat, 360 misses all of em
edit: Well it depends on how you grip the control that makes most of the difference, the Gamecube D-Pad is one of the most responsive D-Pads I've held, a 360 tries to make an all round feel but fails in the clutch of the moment.

Try Playing Supercade with some of the EP fighters, (Nemesis for you )
That D-Pad will be *&%^ when you're through or you've been whipped harder than a spoiled child.

Probably. It picks up just about everything, even when I mash on it.

I got used to using the analog over the d-pad out of necessity whenever my friends brought fighting games over to my house.

    ...

FYI, I hate fighters, though I'm fairly good at Capcom vs SNK.

I love, love, love the Gamecube controller, as it just seems to fit my hands perfectly, and I really like the button layout with the different sized buttons. Have never played a fighter with it, though, so I couldn't say how I'd find pulling off specials on that teeny little d-pad.

Not many (not any I've played) made use of the D-Pad to say, so I had modified a wireless one to play on one of my laptops, with a friends help.
I still thank him to this day.
