Japan is different, but not really the scary kind of different. It's super-safe, and provided that you don't cause any trouble, you probably won't find any. People are generally pretty helpful if you don't speak much Japanese, too~

I feel the same with Spanish. Learned two years worth of school taught Spanish in one year, barely even read in Spanish anymore. I kind of feel bad about that.

Um... well I do, but not in the way I expected to. I speak to my tutors and friends pretty much every day in Japanese, and I read novels in the language. But in terms of games / anime / movies / manga? Not reaaaaally. :'D Like a couple a year~
