Well, Fileserve seems kaput. Check it out, they're doing that 'you can only download files you personally uploaded' deal

*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Fileserve never did this before (some of the sites they owned did though). Fileserve went deleteing mad. Any account that had a deleted file on it got the boot too, which subsequently took out boatloads more files. Then when they realized their business was failing they quietly undeleted a huge portion of the files that they nuked. Now they've struck a nice balance of not having to serve up any bandwidth due to nigh every account being banned, yet they're still getting hits from people looking

So considering the complete lack of facts in this thread I felt like doing a quick Google. Basically the MPAA made a statement the other day that said they took down Megaupload, and they intend to takedown some specific sites next. The wussy hosts that don't even believe in their own business model flinched and quit.

Also I turned up an interesting read about the Megaupload aftermath.

Mediafire issued a response letter. I think it's absolutely nutso to act like a filehosting site can manage every file on their servers every second of the day.

The MPAA is full of greedy wanks. They got a taste of power and they think they can take down whatever sites they don't like.

i can see everyone only using torrents at this rate...unless we get some REAL badass hosts that dont give a.... and take no crap from anyone!

luckily i've been rather laid back as far as downloading goes - last thing i got (today in fact) was a game ost.

That's a bit brash, some people (including myself) were providing some pretty good links. Not to mention all of this is old news in the first place, I doubt everyone wants to reiterate the threads that are bound to be around from when it happened back in January.

That last link is pretty interesting though, and yea I was confused about how uploaded.to disabled US IP's and now just reenabled it. Nice article, thx

Recently, mediafire revamp their homepage and added testimonies on the frontpage. Lmao, nice move by mf.
Hopefully, this is a good indication that they mean real business and will never close their file sharing function. Enjoy. :p

Brash...? You're the only one that linked anything, and it was hearsay stuff from January on a random forum that had less info than our last thread... I'd even say my earlier posts didn't even have facts, as I was just repeating some hearsay (some of which seems to be incorrect). There's current news that has been happening this week. That's why Muscab started the thread, but nobody elaborated on what was actually happening now.

The MPAA are full of idiots that wouldn't know if their hair were on fire, unless it were fire made of $$$.

@Ragnar Oh I see. If anything I thought that link contained an "updated" list, sorry. Actually the fact this thread is aimed towards more current news is awesome, I wish I knew that from the beginning. Thanks for the clarification

IMO, that's what got MegaUpload busted... trying to go "legit" and having celebrities endorse them. If you deal in the black market, or even in shades of grey, KEEP your HEAD DOWN.

As for MU's "celebrity endorsers"... Kim Kardashian? Really? Oh, well... Maybe she hosted her little "fame-maker" video there.
