RTS is all about Strategy. You can't just spawn and take out all the enemies. You need strategy and time. Age of Empires is a great example. Patients is virtue, the more you progress the better the troops you get. Its all about strategy if you are simple minded and need to be walked through a campaign, with zero decisions needing to be made. Its surprising you can even play old-school emulation games because they don't babysit you through the game like Shit of Duty where you get a checkpoint every 3 minutes.
I have nothing against FPS but they are inferior in all aspects expect shitty multiplayer which is full of young children who have a e-penis larger than the empire state building. Who are all buff-ass cool kids who could kick anyones ass and are the better of the world because they can go 20-2 online. When it really matter on the internet there mommy pays for and the people who parents can't afford good internet fail.
RPG + RTS take more skill than any FPS i've seen. I play everthing on the hardest Diffuculty and i can compare them. If you are on a emulation site im surprised because you seem like your simple brain could never beat zelda or metroid 1 without a walkthrough online.
