Bah I don't know how to respond to this. You have a point but I still think the original ending had potential. Oh well, shouldn't dwell on that. What we have is what will stick I suppose. What Bioware probably is planning is to expand on the ending via DLC and give us more info and thus soften the blow. Or something.

I assume it would have come down to a choice of destroy the Reapers and save the galaxy's civilization, and race to find an answer for the impending doom of Dark Matter; or sacrifice humanity to help the Reapers do what ever it was they were doing about the Dark Matter problem. That being said, it's not too different from the red "destroy the Reapers" ending that's already in the game. Only thing is the ultimatum is different, instead of Dark Matter shenanigans you're given the choice of destroying the Reapers assuming you played your cards right, but at the cost of destroying all other synthetics that exist including Shepard, the Geth and their new found consciousness, and EDI and her new sexy robot self.

I totally went for the destruction ending. I felt a little bad for the Geth but hey, Shepard (space-)magically survived so maybe they did too? And I was just reminded of how much the destruction of the mass relays (and the Citadel) pisses me off. Way to cripple your own goddamn universe, Bioware. >___>
