Unfortunately that's still a little bit more than I'm looking to spend right now... I'm probably going to be building a new rig late in the year, so if he still has it by then I'll probably pick it up. I don't want to low ball him though, when he could probably get a lot more on eBay with little to no effort.

Yeah, I looked up the card on Newegg, and retail value is quite high, even now. So unfortunately I'll have to pass on it, like I said, I don't want to low ball him.

If he doesn't care about maximizing value, I wouldn't worry about it . Since you're going to wait as it is, wait until nVidia puts out the 600 series cards.

I honestly don't plan on ever going back to Nvidia. I just don't trust the company. After the BS they tried to pull with requiring you to use their chipset to SLI, and the toaster ovens that were the 400 series, I just do not want another card from them. PhysX was cool, but under used. So meh.
