Snes-O-Rama is Down!

This is really sad news. EP and SOR have been affiliates for years. I hope that they are able to pull all the pieces together and wish them the best with any new direction they decide to take.

It's often overlooked but running these sites is a hard personal choice. I started EP when I was 13 and it's a huge part of me, can't really think of ever shutting it down. Obviously, sometimes I fear for my own safety and I totally understand Matrlxs' decision.

EP will continue the same as much as we can because we LOVE video games! But we need to be every bit aware and vigilant because these days 'The times they are a-changing.'

We're working on some awesome new sections and features for EP coming up in 2012 and I'm super excited about that stuff

The owner of Snesorama is matrlx, but the actual admin that handled the thing since 2006 is me. Thanks to the efforts of the amazing Staff and uploaders the site increased, became quite a giant in the emulation world. Although the regular activity was slower than EP (Snesorama had a freedom of speech hardly matched, which was harsh on web's new visitors), the no. of guests visiting for the content was huge.

Am not bashing EP as I don't gain anything from it and it is pointless as you guys have your own thing here, but SOR was a bit more organized with daily updated lists of all it offered and truly rare games all on the fastest and most reliable hosts w/o bullshit like making money of a link, although some used that.

Why was it down and why it's changed ?

SOR has been used in attacking some brazilian sites (DDoS) and hosted some Unreal Tournament matches thus exceeding bandwidth and pissing off the host. It is now hosted on Nitroroms (highly illegal site), Trade Post is read only.. and it's like a ghost of its former self. People who made it big are gone and I have no idea why matrlx brought it back for the "community" but still has a Trade Post (LOL?), SOR had hits only for games, EP has a much more developed community. But whatever, much like others, I am no longer involved with the thing, it's some crippled uninteresting piece of shit now. (1 member/500 guests)

As for EP legality, you're hosted in a place that signed ACTA and you host games besides indexing links. Could be worse, SOR is now hosted by Nitroroms which asks money for some quota to download.

lol Just wanna give a big thanks to Vamp, Gladiator, Cleidophorus (on some Indiana Jones Crusade), and FaWzY(gone). And many many more.
It truly was a blast in a unique twisted kind of way. Gonna miss the old place.
Sensitive people did not last long there, they either bucked up or got out. So many butthurt people. LOL
I will miss the uploaders who put so much work into SOR. They made it what it was. Retro gaming covered in awesome sauce.

9 members and 604 guests on SnesOrama at the moment, seems awfully quiet, i personally never used it, i only found out about it when i joined up to EP back in 2010 (seems so long ago now) never thought to sign up to it though, its a shame to see another website go down due to problems, but im sure that the community will welcome people to EP
