In others they're like "yeah, keep dreaming kid"

In the case of the guy stuck with the shit job, he's just going to be afraid to hire since you could become his replacement.

It's one of those risk vs reward things. Most interview folks would point towards an alternate wording like "still working with this company, possibly with more responsibilities and a position that my employers feel I'd make the most difference in".

Or something stupid sounding like that.

I find sounding like the biggest tool possible leads to getting jobs.

Never been asked that. Just about ambitions, where I said "I dunno lol" and he wrote that question off there and then.

By the way, the manager said I would just be attended an open day. It's 2 hours long. No mention of an actual interview, although he said to think of any questions and to 'dress appropriately'.

I imagine they're going to be sifting through the people with whatever tasks they have for us, followed by a proper interview if successful.

You know what I loved most about my interview yesterday?

I didn't have to use any of those stupid sounding lines.

I pretty much got to sit down with a nurse and have a conversation with her. Waiting for a callback in a couple of days to set up an in-person/phone/Skype interview with one of the unit managers to find the best place for them to assign me a position.

It would be really great if they could call me tomorrow. Then maybe I could set up an interview tomorrow and get a start date. Then blow off my current job completely.

That's true in most of the cases. In case you need inspiration, watch The Apprentice. There are more tools in there than a construction site.
