Funny, I didn't see the bigger one being sold anywhere... Are the first ones bundled with games that need it?
Been lazy to put up a sig since my account got wiped with that last EP crash. Well, here's something.

-3DS- in search for a New 3ds- MY FRIEND CODE
    -PSP- Retired, but still functional
-PSVITA- Traditional, mostly an accessory :c
    -PS4- Deliciouser
-PS3- black 2501A 160gb, some version of Rebug
-PS2- Retired, also functional but ps3 is doing the hard labor
-PC- Dead, but damn, my new phone and some lame laptops are doing the trick for now
Who knows when there'll be a new update...?

The psvita has games that NEED a memory card to be inserted for them to work, like uncharted. Question is, WHICH of the cards? The mini memory stick-like that's the rage for the vita, or the gamecard look-alike that's inserted on the top? What's the difference between those two? Some kind of "ram memory" expansion?
Both. It's like DSi, which had game cartridges AND mini sd card. Vita has game card and memory card. Difference is, With DSi you could save your files on the game cartridge, so SD card wasn't necessary, it was just an add on. With Vita, you HAVE to save on memory card, which means the memory card is necessary.

But wait for it to get hacked, all the problems will be gone.

    Edit:

Unfortunately, the bigger card seems to function as read only, so it can't carry save files and patches.

Edit 2: Added pic, just to clear potential confusion:

It's basically like the PSP, you get the games and need a memory stick to save them. I was talking about that second port on the upper part, I thought it was for a SECOND cartridge, but it says "Accessories" on wikipedia's chart...

And of course I want it hacked, that's why I'm thinking about getting it ASAP and leave it waiting for the right time to come to life.

Nope, small portion of space will be reserved for that purpose, actually.

Really? So what was all the fuss about mem cards being necessary? Did they change it?

The space given on the NVG Card is very limited, so that's why you need an external card to store other data(like I said, downloadable content, PSN stuff and so on), plus some(or most) of the Vita's games need it to boot up properly.

and No, they didn't make any changes on it. That's how it was before and after it was released.
(man, did you actually read the link? or do some research about it?)

Ah, yes, more stuff to get cleared...

I heard something about single-user stuff on the psvita. Does it mean I can't log in to more than one psn account? I have only an US psn account, but it's for the psp only... I was wondering also about local psn option [Brazil, it seems there is already support for my country, but with some absurd prices]

... Not sure if I'll stick to my us account on the vita or create a new one, if I can only access one on it. :/

I don't see what the confusion is about. The Vita uses cartridges as the media format for games, that's it. The memory stick serves the same purpose as it did on the PSP or the hard drive in a console.

At Meganova, it's up to the developer whether they allow saving off the card or not.
That was the last thing I heard about it anyway.

The confusion was about the two slots on the upper part of the vita - I for some reason thought it was supposed to house a game cartridge on the left, and a kind of memory card on the right, but it is for accessories...

Yes, I did. Here's an article that says some games need memory card for saves. For some reason (Perhaps because I was reading too fast) I had the impression that all save data must be stored in memory card.
