Nah, I'm agreeing with you on the desktops being expensive for what they are. I'm just saying their laptops are a bit more sensibly priced all things considered.

And if you're not impressed with it, fair play. Everyone likes different things. I do love mine though and wouldn't use anything else if given the choice.

    Laptops are too high all-around.

I have to go to town twice tomorrow. I hope I can at least find something decent worth buying.

You're paying for build quality and design more than anything. I can pick up a cheap laptop for under £300 but it'll probably be thrown together and run hotter than the surface of the sun.

At the other end of the spectrum all these £2,500 gaming laptops just make me laugh. That quad core processor and top of the line graphics card look great on paper but they'll be old tech in a couple of years, and when you decide to just use it as a regular laptop for web browsing or whatever you'll be fucked because all those wonderful power hungry components mean the battery will last for less than an hour. Switchable graphics have helped overcome this to some degree but you've still got a machine consuming more power than a small Danish village. Battery life, screen quality, build quality and resale value should be the most important things to consider when buying any sort of laptop. Specification comes secondary.

Resale value? You're starting to sound somewhat like me there!

This is why desktops are a better buy if you have no need for a laptop. When I buy anything, I buy for keeps.

    I hackintosh.

I miss my blue-disk copy of Metal Gear Solid. Looks like I'll be downloading it and emulating. I need to play this game again.

My old copy of MGS has become so badly scratched I can't play it anymore I might get the HD collection when it comes here.

Gaming laptops are the stupidest thing ever. Why are you trying to play games on this tiny ass thing with that tiny ass trackpad in public for anyway? And where would you do it? On the bus? On a plane? In the airport? All places that can have negative effects if you are engrossed in your little shitty battery draining apparatus.

Get a Macbook Air. Save yourself the temptation to play games while at the same time having a dope computer built for a dope OS with impressive battery life.

Well put it this way. I want a used laptop for web browsing and I have under £400 to spend. Am I going to buy an old Alienware laptop that weighs as much as granite slab, can't play new games and has a panic attack when separated from its charger for more than 45 minutes, or am I going to spend it on an old Lenovo that's relatively light, can't play new games and has a battery of life of 5 hours?

So tempted to do this. I'm been contemplating selling my Macbook Pro and buying an Air for a while now but I'm going to hold off until the new models come out this year. I'll have had the Pro for a couple of years at that point and there's still 12 months of Applecare left for whoever buys it.

I think the original MGS won't be on the BRD, it's going to be a code to download it from the Store.
