We have decided to go with PS3 as our 'next gen' system, as a mutual gift to each other, due to our love of the PSX and PS2. I have a (barely) used system lined-up, and I am needing to know which games are the best of the best. I set aside $300 for this venture, and after the PS3, there will be close to $200 remaining for games. Most of the pawn shops sell PS3 games for $10, give or take. Neither of us has any real knowledge when it comes to this systems' library, the most recent games we have been playing are for the DS and PS2. All of our PS2 games will play nicely on the PS3, yes?
I favor Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Castlevania, platformers, and Zelda-esque games. I also had a love affair with horror-type FPSs like Doom and Killing Time. My wife is into the puzzle-types, but also is obsessed with God of War, Mario, Golden Sun, and Kingdom Heart.

The selection around here is vast; more than 20 new/used retailers and shops within a few miles.

Which games am I picking up?

    Thanks in advance......

If you liked Resident Evil 4, give 5 a try, not as good but still very recommended.
There's Silent Hill Homecoming, which I still haven't played and Silent Hill Downpour is coming out soon.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow is another great game, it's not the classic Castlevania game what you are going to find but a God of War kind of game. The same could be said of Dante's Inferno, another interesting one if you like that kind of beat 'em up/adventure games. Then there's God of War III too.
The best Zelda clone is Darksiders, very enjoyable adventure game. The Assassin's Creed series are really good too, more adventure games to consider.

And some of my personal favourites are the Uncharted and inFamous series and Heavy Rain, look for info on this one cos it's a game quite different to the rest.

AWESOME - Thank you! "Darksiders", eh? ...Has that got anything to do with those Capcom fighting games? Wasnt aware that there was a God of War 3...my wife is gonna flip...

I am terribly curious about the 'Bioshock' game....I'll assume that its on PS3....

Nope, Darksiders is completely unrelated to Darkstalkers, made by a different dev too, I think.
    True, Bioshock is on PS3

Yeah, Nem is right, Darksiders is based on a character created by Joe Madureira, the comic-books artist, nothing to do with the fighting game.

Bioshock, the first one is really good, I don't like first person shooters but this one I had to play it. Haven't started the second one yet tho.

My mom is officially the most paranoid person ever.
I ask her how many wins does it take for a football team to make it into the playoff, then she asks me who I've been skyping, that she doesn't like me trading games, and that there are a lot of crazy bimbos out there.

What did that have to do with my original question?
Everyone on this forum is more sane/less paranoid than her.

So, she doesn't like you trading games with crazy bimbos? I guess other kind of interactions with them are acceptable

She would have to be pretty bad for me to be less paranoid than her.

Such as Skype, which the mother was paranoically asking about.
