Not surprising. Probably the third (Counting Guild Wars) successful MMO will be The Old Republic.

I always thought it looked pretty decent, but I refuse to pay a monthly fee.

Yeah, that's the problem. Not many people want to play monthly fee. But The Old Republic at least has fans from Knights of The Old Republic and Star Wars fans, so it caters for a lot of age-groups. That's my take on it, if it fails that I jinxed it.

Best Buy has the collector's edition for $9.50.

Collector's Edition items. You'll receive a 2.25" metal STO comm badge with an antique brass finish, a deluxe manual featuring more than 40 pages of high-quality glossy concept art in a hard-bound collectible book, bonus downloadable content (including a Red Matter Capacitor and two uniform options from Deep Space Nine and the Next Generation movies) and Buddy Keys that let you invite up to three friends to join you for a limited time.

A tempting buy, if only for the comm badge .

I am conscientiously trying not to get sucked into the 'buy the collector's edition' trap when buying games. I really do like my CE version of Mass Effect 2, though...

I'm not a star trek fan but that actually sounds pretty cool.

We have to run to town today. I'm going to stop by and see if Best Buy has the CE. If not, I'll probably just grab the regular one at Gamestop. I figure it has a free month, so I'd be within a few weeks of it being free anyway.
