While an interesting question, I regret to inform you that toasters toast bread, not toast.

    Yes,Sometimes.
I get those questions like "Don't you think your too old for video games?"
    Because I'm 17.
Only two friends of mine who know that I play games. And of course my family knows about it,My dad is okay with it,because he had
been playing games for ages since he was young, but He stopped playing when he turned like 40.

Being an EE, most of the people I went to college with also liked video games. I don't think that there's much of a stigma for video game players anymore, what with a majority of people my age playing video games, whether it be sports, shooters or RPGs

Never was ashamed of it, but I don't talk about it in certain company. If not because they just aren't interested, but because... well... I don't really see much point in talking about games unless we are on the same level. You know, other game fans. Not those with a media boosted (commercial/news) or casual interest. Speaking of which:

I was at the bar the other day and there were lots of strangers - including women, of course - and somehow games came up.

They were talking about Battlefield 3, and Modern Warfare, and asked me if I was into it. It makes me sick the amount of attention those games get because I've been playing games since Pong and they are certainly not the pinnacle of gaming that everyone seems to think they are. Just a rehashed idea with the latest gloss.

And so, I began to slam these games as baby stuff, and then I was asked what kind of games I like - then it hit me - I just made a joke and was basically like "touché". After playing tens of thousands of games, all I that came to mind was one thing - The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

I am ashamed to admit in public that I like RPGs. RPGs gamers are generally are seen as sweaty geeky losers with poor hygiene and pizza-face complexions... aren't they? Well, that's not the coolest thing to talk about in a bar: +5 Dagger with Chain Mail.

I guess we have to admit that games like MW and B3 bring in new gamers that wouldn't normally be interested in gaming. I guess it's cooler to shoot people. But I love Grand Theft Auto and all types of games, so I guess "it's cool" to mention that.

    Next time.

returning to this topic again i suddenly remember something, i've been a gamer since the nes back in... well lets just say i was around 5yo at the time, my aunt (things like farmville and other tedious games like that, sorry to say but the very sight of such a game cause great annoyance in me, maybe because of how tedious it can get) and uncle (he usually plays turn based tactics games, military ones) i think played videogames back in the arcades and atari and other retro stuff like that and they still play games on the computer nowadays so its no problem here (heh i've been a gamer for over 18 years now)

I'm a gamer since the super mario bros era. My parents don't like it, they think I'm too old for that, and gaming is a waste of time. Well, perhaps it is, but that how I spend my free times and I like it.
I'm 23, I'm working, and I am not ashamed of being a gamer.
Where I live, most people think (wrongly)that gaming is just for kids, but considering the amount of gore, violence, reasoning, etc...,and money involved in games, I do not agree with most people that it's just for kids. And hey, why would all the fun be left to the kids?

I've gotten the whole"you need to grow up"bit, but I think it's kind of a misconception on that."growing up" is taking responsibility for your life, not giving up what u like to do because others dont readily understand your interests.I call what they want by the term"Growing OLD."

Ashamed, why? I am a responsible adult, I pay my taxes, I am a family man, and I have done my bit of service for the Gov.....

....So what if I get-off on the Mushroom Kingdom, Resident Evil, and 16-bit glories; who is to judge, really? Sure, I get the occasional "huh...lookit the old dude...huh.." stares at the used games shops, but that ignorance slowly dissapates once you get to know someone...

Apparently, because I have a few grays in my beard and I spend more time looking at the 8 and 16-bit games, I'm 'gramps'....

I'd say video games are pretty well-received around here, as there are three rental shops within walking distance of my house (and one of them is open 24/7 O.o). On the other hand, I also know people who condemn games as the Devil's handiwork. I have to watch what I say around them...
