Set your laptop to performace rather than looks (right click in/on Computer, then hit Properties, then look to the left and click Adavanced System Settings, under performance hit settings, there you can set it up for Performance) [desktop will look like you have Windows 2K installed but the performance will be improved] While you are there you can go to the advanced option and set how much V-Ram you have (don't go over the top though, you should be able to have as much v-ram as actual ram though)

Take as much as possible off of the start up, especially any on screen widgits

While you play make sure no other programs are running except essential, you may even want to disable antivirus software (make sure you re-enable it before going online though)

You can upgrade Ram thankfully on most laptops aswell, but this may not help it get much faster if at all

Software video plugins will run faster but don't look as nice though the HQ2X filter does make it look very nice

It's true. My old Pentium3 2.4Ghz with an NVidia 6100 ran games fine that my brothers brand new laptop with the ATI mobility 6150 runs as a slideshow. Telling him that his graphics chipset is killing his performance is a lot more helpful than random suggestions. However, given some of the things you suggest, you seem to agree with my assesment of his computer as a POS.

That said, some games are CPU intensive and some games are GPU intensive. My wifes EQ2 runs great on her [email protected] w/ATI chipset, while my Left4Dead runs, like I said, as a slide show. Poor emulator performance in this case is almost surely due to the ATI mobility. Adding a 4GB USB flashdrive as ReadyBoost doubles up the framerate of Left4Dead on her PC. Try a ReadyBoost, or if you can find a shop that will install it in a laptop(most don't) go with RAM since it's better than ReadyBoost.

I have read in many threads that a dual core is too much for ePSXe.
So I should use Single Core or download AMD DUAL CORE OPTIMIZER, but this program does not work
because I have Intel Core i5 lol and not amd
and how can I control my cpu ?
Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Task Manager, Processes tab, right click ePSXe, Set Affinity, uncheck boxes until only 1 CPU is selected.

Nope never said anything negative about the OP's comp at all infact said that upgrading the mem would have very little effect if any.

And going through how to run a machine more efficiant is not negative either

4GB Ram should be more than enough, but atleast using ready boost will test that out.

Anyway it's good to see your attitude change for once and actually try and help, even if you do try and flame me at the same time.

wow wow wow ... big big thx zorlon, now it seems that it runs really nice, I mean the game runs better than before. I also had to set in my ATI CONTROL CENTER the 3D Quality from _Balanced_ to _Quality (I also tried to set it from balanced to performance, but it does not works as good as the other). Now the lags are not coming 4-5 sec at all. With the help of you guys I'm on the best way to run it fluently without any lags.
I hope you that there are some other good suggestions.

Yes thx zorlon, I also tried to use 1 CPU for my game. But it makes no difference ...

Wouldn't know for that game to be honest, not a fan of those games, in general it's not realy more detailed though, you are not going to get any more detail than what the game has to start with, but it does smooth out pixelated visuals and looks almost as good as high res 3D....

The best way for you to see this is to just test it out yourself, you may like the results you may also not be happy with them, personly I think they look very smooth and could almost pass for higher end console graphics.

For the best results make sure it's multiples of the native res of 320x240 so use 640x480 with whatever 2X filter you deside to use HQ2X is the sexiest of the software filters though, there is also a HQ3X that you could use with 960x720 res that also has good results visually.

Using this instead of Direct3D and OpenGL will speed things up anyway without messing with the general PC setup

Here is a couple of sceen shots from another thread I posted in a while ago

    with HQ2X stretched

    with scale2xstretched (not filtered)

They are both with pete's software plugin and both the same res... think it was 800x600 (would look beter with a native x2 res of 640x480 though)
Beter again if it was 960x720 with the HQ3X stretched filter

Beter quality image of HQX2 800x600

i think there's still problem if use old version emulator,
    try using ePSXe 1.7.0
    try Pete's D3D set to auto-configure: nice
if still slow set to auto-configure: fast
if still slow Pete's Softdrive try auto-configure: nice
if still slow set to auto-configure: fast

alternative u can get latest PS1 emulator in http://www.emucr.com/
    try PCSX
it rather same with ePSXe, but different engine

yeah thank you guys, this emulator is also fine. But I only use it because I play tekken 3 online. so it is based on ePSXe. But thx anyway.

hi zorlon thank you that you took time for me and posted these things. You are a really good help. Now it works really really fine. No hard lags anymore

But I cannot really see a big difference This scale2xstretched looks better, How can I integrate it?

scale2x is poor quality maybe the screen shots don't do it justice, HQX2 looks much beter

The shots are a little blurred

these are software plugin filters though

If you're concerned with graphics you might want to try finding Tekken on MAME. Multi Arcade Machine Emulator. You should still be able to connect online and you will get better graphics.

There is also GGPO, a dedicated online MAME matchmaker, but last I saw it supports mainly Capcom fighters.
