Never was a big fan of RARE as a developer. They started out big on the N64, and I just didn't like the N64 system at all. I got tons of emulators for different systems, and don't have a N64 emulator because I got no need for one.

Yeah there were many great titles on the 64 who can forget Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conkers bad fur day, ahhh the good old days of early 32 / 64 bit gaming.
Ohhhh yeah, good times. Just loved Donkey Kong Country on the snes.
when i discovered killer instinct in my local arcade back in 94 i was blown away. such a wonderful time the mid 90s were for video games
My thumb doesn`t miss that nintendo/rare couple! battletoads for NES was evil(battlemaniacs for Snes was a lil more easy in comparison) , even using those warp whirpools was a very hard game,.. i wonder if by the end of the game, was the Psygnosis Owl waiting to pop in the credits.
i played conker's bad fur day for the first time yesterday and i gotta say, i never expected to see a game like that on N64, it was quite different from most games of the time (vastly more cursing then most N64 games lol)
Rare was sooo good before they got bought out!
Back in the day rare was my company of choice for gaming pleasure on the n64 along with the n64 zelda titles they are pretty much all i played on the system.
It is a pity there are no new Killer Instincts or any other unique games from the company and to be honest the games that have been released over the last few years ( nuts and bolts, perfect dark, and most others) have been nowhere near the standard of the n64 era.
But never count RARE out. Whos to say that after all the shite Kinect stuff they are doing they might start on a PROPER game. Maybe, just maybe microsoft have given them these titles to do before they pour cash into a new big new I.P.
But we can only hope that someday we will see KILLER INSTINCT 360 online with awesome graphics and a revamped soundtrack lol.
Oh and one last thing, i recently downloaded Donkey Kong Country Returns for my Wii and It rocks.
Rare games were my favourite N64 games
they were the reason for me to play the N64.
they have created some of the greatest original titles ever
I've still got tons of Snes Games, as well as a modest collection of Original Nintento's classics, The legend of Zelda, Loz 2, Kirby Nightmare in dreamland, what a wonderful time our new generation is going to be missing out on :c
I do miss the glory days of Rare and Nintendo. I don't really see any of that gloriness coming back anytime soon. However the classics will always live on as classics, DKC series, Goldeneye, Jet Force Gemini and so on. Though that's not to say all new games are bad. There are some pretty cool new games as well. Although even if Nintendo acquired Rare again, it wouldn't be the same, most of the original Rare developers have gone on. As someone mentioned here.
Ahhh, yes! Donkey Kong Country is one of the best games of the first half of the 90's. They had it going on back then. Still play it along with the staples Zelda, Mario, etc. Nostalgia can be so relaxing...
Moogle's are more kick-ass than they look.
after rereading through this thread, the '90s gaming genereation was and probably always will be my favorite part of gaming history, so many greta games came out during that time not just from nintendo and rare... really though, one of my biggest complaint of the current gen of gaming is how a bunch of my favorite franchises aren't doing near as good as they used to, megaman, bomberman, among others, the newer games just aren't the same to me
I often revisit the many classic titles found on NES and SNES, and I still buy used titles for GameCube, but IMO N64 is mostly forgetable. I dont know why but 64-bit systems just never seemed to hold up well, (Jaguar anyone). It would seem to me that after the 16 bit era (GameCube asside) Nintendo is more interested in releasing ground breaking hardware rather than ground breaking software. Theyre probably more successful at it now than in the past, as I recall the Power Glove and Running Pad (or whatever that thing was called) were ultimately failures as was the Virtual Boy. The Wii is probably the first real success at something totally different, and 3DS seems promising, but Nintendo itself seems bent on staying family oriented even while a large part of the successful market is shared by more violent or adult orientated titles. I think Nintendo will be around for a long time, but it will be interesting to see how they fare at rehashing the same familiar titles as technology advances.
Oh and for the record(since this is a rare discussion) I never understood the hype surrounding GoldenEye. I was always bothered by the lack of physics when walking/floating up flights of stairs. I did enjoy Killer Instinct.
