The Souls-Out: Dying repeatedly is the new fad!

Finally got the power steering pump out, after removing the pump bracket, the new tensioner I put on Friday, the alternator bracket and leaning the alternator up on the back exhaust manifold. I had to fish it out from between the wires and hoses. I got the pump loose last night, but it took me over 2 hours to get it out of the car today

I would like to have about 5 minutes alone with the nimrod that designed the Dodge Caravan.

I have a friend coming over that has the proper tools for installing the new pulley on the new pump. He's a real mechanic, so I'm hoping it all goes well. After that, I probably have 4 or 5 hours of reassembly to do.

I'm getting really tired of working on this thing.

Probably a lot cheaper than taking it to a repair place.

Proper tools make a big difference.
And a qualified mechanic (even if just to tell you what to do) is really a good idea.
So is the actual factory manual (not some cheap generic rubbish).

Luckily I haven't had to do much work on cars recently.

It's always cheaper if you do things the right way yourself.
Especially when it comes to full engine rebuilds

I would wager this would cost me at least $500 at a shop. Between the belt and tensioner on Friday, and the pump and pulley today, it's just over $100.

Proper tools make a big difference.

I was a mechanic for about 8 years after high school. Got my ASE certifications and everything. I realized after a while that it was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So, I guess you could say I know what I'm doing, but I would rather not do it

I thought about it briefly, but then decided to keep it as a hobby instead.
Good thing I did, because I don't modify cars anymore.......kinda lost interest in a way

But I know several qualified dudes.And a panel beater/painter.

It's really good to know people who do it for a living. They have to keep up with all the updates and classes, they keep the right tools, and you just hit them up from time to time

Yeah, I'm still friends with my sister's first husband......he did his apprenticeship at a manufacturers dealership many years ago, and now runs his family's business.
He has good contacts with lots of old school buddies so it's always possible to get the right gear

As a bonus he sells tyres as well now, and he's always looked after me.........still even get freebies at times
