Also, she's a pot smoker. A fairly heavy one, too. So any chance of longevity is instantly slashed right there. I have nothing against people who smoke pot, but I don't ever want to enter into a long term relationship with one. I don't want that kind of stuff around my kid, especially if said person may become some form of a parental figure in his life.

I'm not going to kibash it right away -- we still have fun hanging out and whatnot -- but I don't see it lasting more than another month.
Nothing wrong with staying friends if you still enjoy her company from time to time. But yeah, I think you're right from the sounds of things, particularly if you feel she's not the best person for your son to be around. For me that would be enough reason to dial things back considerably. You've got to think of him first and foremost.

That's essentially my train of thought as well. Still, I'm going to give it a little bit of time and see how things go. It's nice to get out of the house and hang out with real people sometimes.

It would be even better if the people that I know didn't work opposite shifts from me, though. Everyone usually works 3-11/11:30, and I usually work 8-4:30. Makes hanging out with them on a consistent basis kind of difficult.

"You wanna come over and have a few drinks?!"
"Nah. I have to be at work in... four hours. "

Perhaps. The point stands that you could, though

Yeah, seems like I tend to vanish from this site a lot...I think I do that with any forum unless I tell them I'm leaving for good.

We all do from time to time. I disappeared for about four years before I came back.

... now I have trouble going more than a day without this place.

I think they put crack in the water.

It's difficult meeting new people as an adult. I'm looking forward to hopefully getting back to university next year, if only because I'll actually be around people who are on a similar wavelength again. I'll have been out of education for nearly two years by the time I go back. It's going to take some getting used to but fuck it, I plan to enjoy myself, you know? I want to make the most of it this time around. Not just the academic aspects.

This is actually one of the driving forces for me to go back to university next fall. Just to get out there and try and meet some people around my age who might possibly be on the same page about certain things. Also, because dating high school dropouts with no prospects for the future is getting pretty old.

I must admit, I'm not much of a party guy. But most of the people I know like to drink pretty much every night of the week, at least to some extent. I need to find someone who doesn't mind staying at home more often than not, maybe watch a few episodes of Buffy. Play some games. Read a book. Cook a really nice dinner. Etc, etc. There has to be someone out there who is female and like me.

    ...right...?

I'm really, really looking forward to getting away from here. I mean, we moved house last August, and ever since I came back from America I've started to realise how claustrophobic this place is for me. Like it's a five minute walk from my house to the college I attended until last spring. If I want to go into town, I have to drive past the primary school I attended. The nearest supermarket? It's right next to my old secondary school. All these things the past thirteen or so years of my life revolved around are within a two to three mile radius of my house. Then I go on Facebook and all my friends seem to be living it up in big cities or even foreign countries. It's frustrating. I need a fresh start somewhere.

I'm the same. Clubs and whatnot are shit if you don't drink. I went through that phase when I was 18 and hated it. Once in a while, sure, but I couldn't go to those places every weekend like some people do.

Well, they say you wait ages for something then two come along at once. So when you do end up with two of these women, kindly send one my way.
