Yes. And it's because that's actually on his character sheet.

Unless you're throwing a goddamn army on it, you're probably not even going to live long enough to tickle him a little.

Your best option is to throw whatever you can at it, run, and hope his ADD kicks in before too many turns pass.

Yes, but prior knowledge of the universe is helpful in understanding every last tidbit of the story. Especially the ending.

The only think you need to know about 40K's plot for anything related to it is that it's generic fantasy IN SPAAAAAAACE with everything turned up to 11. And then somehow turned up more such that it's completely off the goddamn scale. And the writers don't give a fuck because the setting is intentionally batshit insane and the epitome of worst case scenario.

    "Our amps go to eleven."

Warhammer 40K is awesome, and you know it.

That's a rather wide damage range there. Why do I feel like this game would require about a million dice if it were tabletop rather than console-based?
A friend of mine who's really into board games told me about this one time he was playing World of Warcraft's board game version. He actually rolled with 20+ dice at once if I remember correctly.

You should point him to one of the numerous PC programs for dice rolling .

    Speaking of Warhammer 40K.

    This is a common occurrence.

How can one not love a setting where the primary weapon types are bullshit psychic powers, guns that can blow up entire cities, and swords that are made of chainsaws?

As far as being "generic fantasy in space". Sure there's space orks, as well as the eldar that are practically space elves. But that's pretty much where it ends.

Anyway, don't remember the Tau, Necrons, or the Tyranids being in generic fantasy books.

Don't play EPIC 40K then, cause believe it or not. It's even more over the top.

There were also races of short lived space dwarves (which were later sorta cannibalized to form the Tau). The Space Marines are basically just Paladins (although there's a bit of swing there with some of the other classes). The Necrons are just undead, and the Tyranids are goblins on crack.
