Overall, there's numerous ones that have better features. The X series has a better sense of speed and competently handles a more varied gameplay style with vehicle levels and a more complex system. I also found a lot of the bosses to be more inventive and interesting. Personally I've always been exceptionally fond of Zero 3, due to it managing to couple an interesting villain with some grade A gameplay. The only real downside is the lack of screen space due to its portable nature. If it was done on a home console it'd be amazing.

As for the original series, I do think 2 is one of the better ones. I always liked 3 a bit more though, and 5 was fairly interesting as well. So there's that. But eh, anything after 5 is certainly a step down from 2.
    You're breaking my heart.

I am a man of simple tastes. Sliding and vehicles make me cry like a baby. Leave megaman alone.

I prefer dashing and charge shots, myself.

And it's not like weird game mechanics didn't start out in the series early. Oh magnet beam, why are you so broken?

I feel very strongly that the only power should be metal mans. Bland isn't always bad.

I really liked the dashing and wall jumping additions. The dashing got a little overwhelming for me at parts though, it was too much to think about

I remember an arcade game version of megaman, where you could fight all of the bosses with a friend in co-op, I really enjoyed that

Also, I'm really sort of liking Valkyrie Profile, although it doesn't explain quite enough IMO.

Yep. It looks rather pixelated though, even for a PSX game IMO. I suppose it's been a while since I've touched the system

The good endings explain a lot of VP's story.

But you have to work for it.

I meant more along the combat and what not, as I'm not really sure what I'm doing, but that too I noticed there's 3, am I going to have to do entire different playthroughs for each?

In that case, they do a good enough job as far as PSX RPGs go. This was back when manuals actually meant something, and when games didn't make you walk through a drawn out tutorial before you could do anything.

You could probably do it in 1 to 2 depending on how well you place your save files and how well you do with using the ending mechanics.

And no, it's pretty much for the best to simply go for the best possible ending from the start. Being that it makes the most sense, explains the most, and is the canonical ending for the other entries.

You want to know the controls? Mash the buttons to figure out what they do.

Ah, the NES days. So much fun.

It does on the PSP one the tutorial in that version spans the whole start and 1st dungeon

PSP also has CGI Cutscenes like this

    art_7469_id_2.jpeg

Is that the same as the PS1 Version? Just curious of the changes

Life was so much easier when we only had 4 buttons and a d-pad~
