I agree with this 100% the towns are massive the combat system is still one of the most innovative I've ever played and the story is epic though a little cheesy at spots but all in all great game indeed.Originally Posted by Inferno.

Overall or original series only?
Overall, there's numerous ones that have better features. The X series has a better sense of speed and competently handles a more varied gameplay style with vehicle levels and a more complex system. I also found a lot of the bosses to be more inventive and interesting. Personally I've always been exceptionally fond of Zero 3, due to it managing to couple an interesting villain with some grade A gameplay. The only real downside is the lack of screen space due to its portable nature. If it was done on a home console it'd be amazing.
As for the original series, I do think 2 is one of the better ones. I always liked 3 a bit more though, and 5 was fairly interesting as well. So there's that. But eh, anything after 5 is certainly a step down from 2.
