Hah, my chipped PSX works perfectly. I have disks that look like they were put through a blender, and were burned onto the crappiest CD's ever, and they still work perfectly.

    tl;dr:
    Fuck you

At least most PS1 games aren't expensive at all. It's a much nicer system to collect for than the N64/Gamecube.

Yeah but I used my PS1 pretty much every day for 5 years or so with horrible quality CDs. About 8 years later and the laser was completely buggered.

Honestly, I don't understand why my PSX is still working. I did the exact same, and I treated it like shit. I've no idea why it still works

The only thing that's ever broken was some shitty Mad Catz analog controller. Everything else, including all of the games still work

EDIT: Wait, I have a memory card that's messed up too. For some reason, the whole console won't boot if I have that one memory card in, no clue why

    PS:
Still have both models of the Playstion 1, never got them chipped though. My $20 bootdisk has worked great for the past ~5 years. Before I got that I used to do the good ole swap trick.

It's a pretty good game, I never finished it myself. Although that doesn't mean anything, as I rarely finish games I start anyway.

I would love a chipped Saturn, Gamecube and a Dreamcast that's capable of reading discs.

These $5 Fridays are making my list of unplayed games grow exponentially

The Saturn chip requires one wire to be soldered
The Gamecube can be chipped for like $8
    You don't have a pre 10/2000 DC??

I got offered a chipped Cube for £25 delivered (with no controller). He failed to tell me the Gamecube only reads big discs (and the case is a standard case) so I'd have to use it with the case off. It is very choosy about small DVDs. I told him I didn't want it.

Chipped Saturns rarely ever come up for sale.

When I had my chipped Cube, I bought a replacement top case that allowed full size DVD's to be inserted. I think it was like $10 or less.
