That's ignoring the currency exchange and whatnot, just looking at everything from a 1:1 dollar comparison. A $249 PS3 costs the same here and in Ireland, since the minimum wages are roughly similar. A £249 PS3 is a bit over the top.

On average food costs a lot less in the UK than it does here, plenty of people go into the North of Ireland just get cheaper stuff.
