I used to have a huge collection of NES games. All of them in the original boxes, most of them with the original manuals (I guess probably about 80% of them were "complete"). I sold a bunch of them when I found out my girlfriend as pregnant. Used the money to buy a crib and stroller and car seat, etc. All of that fun stuff. I still have about thirty games for my NES, and I want to get back into collecting again, I just... can't afford to at the moment.

I feel like I'm doing a Cosmic right now, I've listed so many things on eBay since I woke up today.

Seriously, thank you for pointing out what so many people have trouble realizing. As much fun as it is to play video games, or watch movies on your giant ass TV, or listening to music on your superior sound system, or to drive around in a brand new car... they aren't a necessity. People need to realize that living arrangements (as in... actually having a place to live) and education kind of have to come first, before all of the "niceties" in life.
    Can't rep again.

I would totally buy some of those off you if the shipping wouldn't destroy me.

My Dad seems to think that bracelet is going to sell for £30, I lol'd. He'll be lucky to get like £5 for it.

Yeah, like you said in a post above, some things just take precedence over gaming. Good on you for doing what you did, though it was probably tough.

I have around 42 NES carts, most have manuals, none have boxes (I was enamored by the plastic cases when I was a kid)... and about 15 SNES carts, most in original boxes with manuals. Now that console emulation has come so far (my Wii does a fantastic job emulating NES and SNES), and I'm contemplating a move to a bigger city with a better music scene, I think they might become a bit heavy to carry on my travels. ROM images can live on a USB stick-drive in my pocket.... but then again, there's just something about playing a game on original hardware, and that makes me hold on to my old consoles.

And I definitely think the cunt that bought Dirt 3 has no intentions of paying.

At the peak of my collection, I had 249 NES games in the box. They took up most of a wall of my bedroom. It was awesome.
I definitely agree that they get to be a pain in the ass to move around, though. And yeah, it definitely sucked selling them all off, but it had to be done. I kept most of the ones that I still play on a regular basis (all of the Mega Mans, Super Mario Bros. 1-3, both Zeldas, Metroid, all three Castlevania, and a couple of other random ones), and I've since picked up a few games again from garage sales (sadly, not in the original boxes), but I just can't afford to spend that much money on games anymore. What with rent and all that. Although once I quit smoking and cancel my cable, I'll be saving about $200/month. Might use some of that money to start collecting again.

It's just how I was raised, mate. The house, the food and the bills were always paid for before anything else. We didn't have expensive things or get to go on nice holidays but we were comfortable. We had a roof over our heads and my parents could at least sleep at night knowing they weren't up to their ears in debt. I do feel I've been a bit frivolous with my money over the past year but I never went stupid and bought anything I couldn't afford to pay off in full at the end of the month. When I was studying towards a law degree there were so many students who would get their loan each term, pay their tuition fees and blow what was left on a plasma TV or speakers for their car or something equally unnecessary. They seemed incapable of understanding they would be expected to pay it back one day plus interest. I knew one guy who was sick of studying but really wanted a PS3, so he stopped coming to lectures, waited until his loan came through, bought one and dropped out. Idiot.

Depending on how much more money I need to raise there might be other PS3 games going on.

What PS3 games are you looking for?

    None at the moment.

If the games you had posted interested me I might have bought something.

The ones I've beaten and will probably never play again are likely to go on next.

(Bulletstorm, Aliens vs Predator, Homefront, Crysis 2, Vanquish, Borderlands, Enslaved, GTA IV, Saboteur)
