Doh, I've been doing this so wrong. Someone at Underground-gamer is going to walk me through all this, how to get the Amiga set up properly.

That sucks. I'm surprised they're that hard to come across, I always thought they'd been pretty popular over there.

    Oh? Which post is this?

They did sell well here, but everyone who finds one in there garage or basement laughs and tosses it in the dump. Do you know what a SID chip is worth?
The cheapest is like 20 usd alone, and I also want to assume thing like this are a larger reason they are hard to find. The pulled actual SIDs from C64s to produce their machines.

That's what I was thinking of doing with a couple of mine, getting the SID chips taken out and put into in a synthesiser. Seems a shame to sell all three since they go for so little here. :/

And holy shit that's an old post.

There is also the option to put 2 sids in one commodore. It opens up twice the amount of sound channels. It would only be useful for making music of course.
Don't quote me on this, since its not of my interest, but I heard timberlake had used a SID chip in some of his music. (he makes music right?)

I wish. If you could I wouldn't have to switch consoles all the damn time.

Hmm, that could be interesting. Do you know if it's possible to mix both the earlier and later versions of the SID chip in a C64? That's what I was thinking of doing, because the later revisions sounded completely different.

Timbaland has been known to use a SIDstation before, there was actually a bit of an uproar over this several years ago. Crystal Castles use them too from the sound of things.

I think it is possible, yes. I didn't know they sounded different though. I had only read that the 6151 had a shorter life span. https://8bc.org/images/neuroflip/sid...lly+assembled/

    But CC invented chiptunes.
