    Really?

No one else remembers the abysmal start of fifth gen and how it took like 3 years to even really get started, and it took almost another before the really good stuff started to come out? Nevermind that the consoles were expensive as all fuck.

And then there was second gen, a generation of games (and to some extent consoles, complete with numerous revisions) so terrible it actually killed gaming. Just saying.
Are you trying to tell me that the Wonderswan, Nomad, Casio Loopy, Virtual Boy, Playdia, 3D0, Jaguar and Amiga CD weren't wonderful consoles?!?!?!?!!?111one

I'm sure I missed something in that lot too. Ugh...it had a weird ass name...can't think of it...

Anyway, most posting here are too young to know about the 2nd gen. I mean talk about epic steaming piles of fudging shit. Mother reffing unplayable.

It's time to take you back to the past, to play the shitty games that suck ass...

Hey now, the Nomad was kinda cool. I would have loved to own one.

Too bad they were rare as fuck and tanked so quickly they didn't get much shelf space anywhere.

Which is sad, because it would've opened the door to plenty of cool ideas on the handheld market. Which only got limited attention in the form of the PSP some years later, and it seems unlikely we'll see a continuation on the PSP successor.

Yeah it's pretty cool, I mean heck it's a portable Genesis. A friend of mine has one. One of the biggest problems it had was battery life (I don't even think they made an adapter for it like they did with the Gamegear). Plus it was crazy overpriced.

Oh, and for the record, I'm not even old enough to remember second gen. I was born partway into 3rd gen and was still on a liquid diet when 4th gen started. I just happen to not be completely ignorant of videogame history and make sure to think before opening my mouth.

They did make an adapter. Of course, this being SEGA, availability and support for the system was balls. So a lot of people didn't get their hands on it. I think most GG users only had that stuff since it was eventually bundled in. The Nomad didn't last that long.

As for the price, it's not really that bad. It was by the day's standards, since the GB was dirt cheap. But relatively speaking it's not really any more expensive for the time than the 3DS/Vita is by today's standards.

I'm one of the dunderheads that actually owns a 3DS, and yet I will not hesitate to say that the 3DS does not NEED slowing down. It's pretty much at a crawl as is. The launch lineup was abyssmal, it took more than two months for anything remotely worth time to drop(Zelda 3DS, which is really just barely better), the E-store is boring and filled with shovelware, and we've got a while to go before any more big titles come out. I only bought mine for Mega Man Legends 3, and since that's gone, I now regard this thing as nothing more than the shiniest paperweight I've ever owned. Let's hope Paper Mario 3D and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance come out good and/or survive to see launch.

Mega Man Legends 3 Fan Project!
We're back, baby. I'd love if someone could help me read this.

    Me too. Bought it day one. Waited for MML3 & Cave Story 3D. MML3 is now canned and Cave Story 3D has been pushed back twice. Originally, it was a launch window game, now, its a holiday game |:{
I play my DS more (mainly because flash cards don't work on the 3ds), and my 3DS is used for internet browsing. IIRC, my total time on the 3DS is 151 hours and 95 hours, is from the internet. The other hours are probably from Pokemon White & Disgaea DS. e-Shop sucks balls, with its main feature being DSiware games, which is weak. The only 3DSware game is a Mario Golf Clone, which i hear is pretty good if you like Mario Golf.

Buying a console at launch is always pretty weak (highest price + greater chance for bugs + limited game selection) but the 3DS brings it to a new level.

Yeah I don't think I'll ever own a 3DS. I'm hoping it will flop and Nintendo will move on.

not that i use the 3d, i still hope it succeeds, though if it flops it will make an easy console for me to collect ALL the games for, since theres only what 15 so far?

But really, while the new Euro PSP model is amazingly stupid, the whole "new" (supposedly only) Euro version of the Wii is even more stupid. I mean, its main selling points are now you cannot play Game Cube games, use any of the GC controllers AND you can sit it on its side and play!
