Well, almost. I'm still one short.

    PARADISE

Now to decide whether to knock out another plat tonight for pointless friendly competition, or to play something for fun whilst talking to myself about nothing in particular.
I saw you were working on the first Uncharted last night/this morning/whenever I went to bed.
I take it Tan is still beating you?

US Gamestops are really, really persistent with that pre-order shit aren't they? I never realised quite how bad it was until they tried it on my cousin. They were asking him if he wanted to reserve Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3 or some other generic war shooter. He's joined the Marines so he was like "Nah, I'll be deployed by the time it comes out." The guy behind the counter tells him that's not a problem, they'll let him pick it up when he's back in the US and he should pre-order anyway because BONUS FREE GAMESTOP EXCLUSIVE MAPS LOL.

I don't think I've ever been asked if I wanted to pre-order a game in the 10+ years I've been going to EB. Doesn't matter which one it is, even the one in the mall never pulled that shit.

    He's still one plat ahead.

Happens to me sometimes. Although the one time I actually take them up on the preorder they fuck up.

    Won't happen again.

I can't be too harsh on the employees, it's not entirely their fault. Management give them quotas for pre-orders and magazine subscriptions. If they don't hock enough of them to gullible customers, they're out of a job. Gamestop are just a horrible company to work for from the sounds of things.

You'd be surprised how many retail jobs are just that crap, particularly in the US where employee protections are just a polite fiction.

Yeah, I've noticed it's even been creeping in here as of late. I'm job hunting right now and it's ridiculous how many supermarkets are now expecting their employees to meet quotas for store credit card signups. Particlarly seeing as we're only just beginning to head out of a global recession predominantly caused by irresponsible credit lending. Scum, the lot of them.

What happens when a majority of the customers already have them?

Depends on how shortsighted, stupid or just plain pig ignorant the management team is. If they're smart, they'll switch to a more useful metric of employee performance. If not, things get interesting.

I got turned down for a job in ASDA, simply stacking shelves in the cold food section... Couldn't believe it. It must be the easiest job in the world to get...

My store just started carrying Justin Bieber's new fragrance.

As part of the little party to generate sales, they had a drawing for a life-sized Justin Bieber cut out.

Some girls spent hours writing tickets with their names on it, a couple of them went through entire pads worth of forms for entries.

    The squealing. It was unbearable.

Congrats for making it this far.

The next forty-five years are going to be a bitch.

However, by the end of it you'll be able to shit in your diapers again, and no one will care. Just like when you were one.

So you have that to look forward to.
