Indeed. For me, the xosmi smiley is a serious rival to the wacko smiley in terms of sheer awesomeness.

    Good smiley.

I'm tempted to put this avatar away and use it for Halloween.

    Indeed.

I went out and grabbed some canned air, hoping there was just dust built up in a place where it shouldn't be, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. After I aired it out, I got the TV to stay on for about 2 minutes before it popped and went off again. Piece of shit.

I've only had it for 4 or 5 years...

According to all the garbage I've sifted through on the web, it is apparently the ballast, which boosts the voltage to the lamps. It bleeds high voltage out to where it doesn't belong, and the circuit breaker designed to trip when this happens, trips. The cost to fix it is apparently enormous, although I have not been able to find an exact estimate.

I hate the idea of shopping for a new TV again. Salesmen make me want to kill things.

They just don't make shit like they used to. It's like everything is built to fail now.

I normally do. I tell them I'll look around and tell them when I'm ready.

Then they proceed to tell me I have made a horrible choice, and should listen to them while they sell me a TV that is not only more expensive, it's not anywhere near what I want or need.

So they can line their pockets with commission.

Generally repairing electronics is almost as expensive as getting new one which sucks.

To top it all off, I am out of beer.

I really should just jump off a bridge.
