Well, I use a USB to midi cord which plugs into the midi IN jack (that piece has both IN and OUT) and then the GB link cable to my GB. I have a custom ROM on my GB that translates the data from the pedal into sound. My gameboy has what is called the "prosound mod" which routes the pre-amp audio to a custom fitted headphone jack, which removes static introduced by the internal amp. It cannot power a pair of headphones, but is not intended for this since I kept the stock headphone jack. It is used strictly as a line-out jack. From there I plug it into my line-in on my desktop and record.

My gf has a cheap pedal that she got ages ago called "French Toast." I want to see what it can do when introduced to this little setup.

I understood all of it, except why you'd do these things with a GB .

Wow. Must have taken awhile to get all that setup. What do you record into, Audacity? I'll be interested to listen when you get around to making the thread.

The same reason people climb mountains I'd wager. BECAUSE IT'S THERE!

    Spoiler warning:

For recording chip tunes. Sure I can make music any other way, but I prefer the sound of 8bit.

Yeah, audacity. Funny thing, while I was experimenting in audacity, I found that you do not need a mic plugged in from your computer to hear you. If you yell loud eneough, the pins that connect to the mic's plug can pick up your voice.

Doing it with a keyboard and a synth program just wouldn't be cool enough, would it ?

The first time I rode on an airplane, we were in first class (paid for by TI, since my dad got a job with them and we were moving from New York), and they were selling headphones to hear the in-flight movie with. Turns out, the headphones were just a set of hollow tubes to amplify the sound, and you could just stick your head down by the headphone jack and listen to the movie.

Haha, no way? That's crazy. Audacity is great. I especially like how you can set your speakers as the input and record stuff off the web. Not that that's more convenient than downloading or anything, but it's still cool.

    Vacations almost ending.

And I haven't watched several movies.

    Oh fuck.

I'm tired. But I can't go to bed until I finish watering the lawn. This is clearly a conundrum. Need automated sprinklers, plx.
