    It's a cheaper alternative to a DVD player, Blu-Ray player, and a media server of some kind.

    Uh, don't just buy a new video card. Make sure you actually have the proper connectors for it first. That's why I was asking if you had a PCI-E x16 slot. Most PCI-E x16 cards also require a PCI-E power connector. Since you said you've never opened it before, I wouldn't suggest just assuming it's there.
