Default ECM SUCKS (I can't use ECM)

Since everyone's been using ECM compression any game I get is missin the important audio tracks. I'm tryin to play Alone in the dark "the new nightmare" and all of the important scenes have no voice and that game has alot of valuable info that is given at those times. I'm really hatin havin to use a walk thru, it's cheatin. And it's not just this game it seems to be every game that's been ECM'ed. I hate to do this but does anyone know where there are games not ECM'ed. I'm new to postin but I'm a long time Emuparadise fan. I don't want to go anywhere else. Maybe someone could start an unECM'ed section? maybe in the forums????

ECM does not remove any data from the game images. The problem is most likely your emulator.
It would help if you posted which emu, your computer specs and your plugins for said emu.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark.
You're running EPSXE with plugins? If you're using the reccommended plugins, you should search for an option called "Sound" in the "Config" dropdown menu. In it, there should be an option that says "XA Audio". Enable it and restart the emulator. I had that problem when I got Mega Man Legends 2 to run, believing it was a bad ISO dump.

If it's not and my stab in the dark failed miserably, please explain some more. By the way, ECM rocks; keeps gigantic files in reduced sizes.

ECM is good for reducing sizes, but can be a pain in the ass if you don't have anything to decompress it, and get the ISO etc. Other then that, I have no problem with it.

As far as it sucking i can't agree more, however, i think it sucks on multitudes of levels that don't deal with the emulator. First I thought that's what zip/compression algorithms were for. now this is where i got the info from. http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/. Why did he make it to complement a compression algorithm like 7zip or such instead of just making a more useful compression algo that incorporates both of these features. Seems like it would make more sense to me. (not ranting just thinking.)

sorry about the title I was thinking on the lines that the ecm process was originally used to find redundancy in window prog and it might the the audio's redundant I actually have had it ruin iso's of programs for that reason some times repetition of commands is important. I'll try the xa-audio and yes i'm using epsxe thanks

Sure. Do tell us if it worked or not and in case it does not I'll search another possible cause.
