I can usually understand the spoken language, but reading kanji is a different story.
I was joking, I assumed as such. I think the spoken is worthless to learn, compared to the written. Kanji are actually Chinese, the Japanese just use them as a base . I'm pretty sure there are major differences now, but originally they were Chinese.

Ive never taken the time to learn the kanji.
I just enjoy being in a group of people and say something like "Watashi wa anata ni subete no hito ga shinu koto o negatte".
Then everyone looks at me like WTF did you just say?
